Fr. Brian Hoelzen, LC began to hear God’s call in his heart early in life, leaving home at age thirteen to start a beautiful, unusual and passionate journey with the Lord. Growing up in Seattle, Washington as the elder of two brothers, his final years at home were marked by an interest in musical theater. Since setting out, he feels fortunate to have served and studied in exciting destinations both in the US and abroad, including Spain, Italy, Mexico, New York, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Indiana, Georgia and now, Michigan. He was ordained a priest on December 12, 2015, almost twenty years after he first set out from home. The “working motto” of his priesthood is “Seek to serve”. He enjoys getting to know people, is passionate about helping them discover the gifts God has placed in their heart, and takes advantage of every opportunity he can to be outside hiking, biking or running. He considers himself privileged to serve at Everest Collegiate High School and Academy and looks forward to seeing ECYD flourish both there and elsewhere in the upcoming years. To hear more about his story, feel free to invite him out for a coffee.
